Foreign Minister Dhunya Maumoon has appealed to international community not to be misled by human rights lawyer Amal Clooney – who is part of imprisoned former Maldivian president Mohamed Nashee’s legal team.
Dhunya gave an interview to American television channel NBC News during which she rebutted Amal’s comments that democracy was dead in Maldives.
She said that Amal was using her popularity and appealed to international community not to be hoodwinked by what Amal says.
Nasheed is serving a 13 year jail sentence and is currently in UK for surgery.
