Fenaka to bring in 60 more generators

Fenaka Corporation has said that it plans to bring in 60 more generators to improve quality of electricity provided to atolls.

Speaking in an interview with “Sun” on Monday, Managing Director of Fenaka, Mohamed Nimal said that consumption of electricity was increasing despite 77 generators being brought in the past year. And that the corporation had therefor decided to bring in 60 more generators.

“We need to improve the quality of our service to the islands to meet with the development that is seen from day to day and the great development projects that is being carried out,” said Nimal.

He said that the generators will be operational by end of this year and that priority would be given to islands that have big development projects going on.

Nimal also added that the corporation has decided to move powerhouses in 60 islands this year due to complaints about them being situated in populated areas. And that a MVR 50 million worth order would be placed soon to purchase cables required by 26 islands.
