Commonwealth has expressed their approval for the government’s decision to allow the former President Mohamed Nasheed to go abroad for medical treatment in the U.K.
"The Commonwealth also hopes the Government's decision will contribute to a positive climate for the resumption of dialogue between Government and Opposition parties aimed at resolving political tensions and advancing Commonwealth political values in Maldives.” The statement said.
The Government approved the former President Mohamed Nasheed to seek medical treatment abroad yesterday. But the former President did not depart to the U.K. due to conflicts with the regulations for sending inmates abroad and the former President’s requests.
