The Committee of the Media Development Foundation has been established

Elected appointees to the Media Development Foundation (MDF) created to advance Maldivian journalists and media has been announced.

After the meeting to establish the committee for the next five years of MDF, Former President of the Maldives Journalists Association (MJA) and Chief Editor of Sun Online, Hiriga Ahmed Zahir was elected as the Chairman.

While the Vice President of MJA, Ali Shamaan was elected as the Co-chair, the Editor and CEO of DhiTV, Midhath Adam was elected as the Treasurer. And while the Director of MV TV, Ibrahim Mohammed has been elected as the Secretary General, DhiTV Journalist Mariyam Shaushath was elected as the Secretary.

In a press conference by the MDF at the Sun Media Group studio today, Chairman Hirigaa said that the target of MDF is to develop and resolve the challenges facing the media.

Former President of MJA Hirigaa said that a lack of a platform to voice the rights of media rights are being feltand the role of the Broadcasting Corporation and the Media Council has to beer broaden to resolve the challenges.

Speaking at the press conference, Co-chair Shamaan said that MDF plans to conduct different development projects for the Maldivian media. And provide opportunities for local journalists to excel on the overhaul international stage.

The new leaders of the MDF introduced to are the frontiers of Maldivian Media and have provided 18 scholarships in the field.
