Aafiya’s stepfather charged with incest

Ismail Rauf, M. Dhiggaru, the step father of Aafiya Mohamed, the mother of the 3-year-old Mohamed Ibthihaal who was found dead in V. Rakeedhoo with bruises who is currently on trial for sexually abusing her son, has been charged with incest.

The charges were pressed under the law of treatment of child molesters.

A hearing of the case has been scheduled at the Criminal Court foe 1 p.m. tomorrow.

If convicted, he could serve 20 - 25 years in prison.

Talking to the press, the Head of the Serious and Organized Department of the Police, Superintendent Abdulla Satheeh said that Rauf has previously served time for assaulting a step child.

He said that the investigation has revealed that Rauf has previously abused Aafiya as well.
