Students should not be involved in political activities: President

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has called on teachers to refrain from involving students in political activities.

The President made this statement while addressing the people of Ha. Vashafaru, making this the second time the President spoke in this regard.

He said that the school environment should be one where children learn discipline and educate themselves, and failure by teachers to act as exemplary figures can have devastating effects on children.

The president called on teachers to protect schools and thus students from political activities, and not to include ideological debates in the society in school activities, because schools are the institutions which lay the foundation of the future of our children.
