A reporter has been arrested for taking a photograph of former Vice President Ahmed Abdul Gafoor as he was being taken out of police vehicle so he could be transported back to Dhoonidhoo Prison after he was taken to the doctor for medical care.
Police arrested “Sun Online” deputy editor Hussein Hassan.
Police media official who spoke to “Sun” on Wednesday said that a reporter had been arrested
for disobeying repeated instructions by the police not to take photographs in an area closed down by police for security reasons.
In addition to being deputy editor for “Sun Online”, Hussein Hassan is also a member of Media Council.
Chief editor of news website he works for – Ahmed Zahir (Hiriqa) said that Hussein Hassan was arrested while he was taking photographs from an area open to public, and that he could not think of any valid reason why he should have been arrested.
He added that he counted that under threatening reporters, and was saddened by the incident.
