New military helicopter being brought to the Maldives

The government has decided to bring another military helicopter to the Maldives.

Defence Minister Adam Shareef told Sun Media today that the second helicopter is being brought with the help of the Indian government. He said that the first military helicopter was also donated by India.

The Defence Minister said that the military of the two countries have held discussions on the matter. And if things proceed as decided now, the helicopter would be brought to the country within the next three months.

Minister Shareef said that MNDF wants to monitor the Maldivian ocean and the economic border on helicopters and regular flights.

He said that the helicopters would be used in providing aid to the people in medical emergencies as well.
