Second phase of the Hulhumal

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been awarded the project today to develop the land expanded by the second phase of the Hulhumalé Development Project.

At the special ceremony held at the Housing Ministry today, the project document was presented to the Managing Director of HDC, Ahmed Saiman by the Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

An area of by 2,028,510.8 square kilometers was expanded with dredging in the second phase of the Hulhumalé Development Project.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director of HDC, Ahmed Saimon said that a number projects under the second phase of the Hulhumalé Development Project is already underway in the area. And so a large portion of installing large gravel stones around the land is completed while the construction of the cruise marina and yacht marina is ongoing.

Saiman said that a number of development projects would be conducted at the site in the near future.

Housing Minister, Dr. Muizzu said that while the development project has been awarded to HDC, the main project by the Housing Ministry in the area would be the housing project. He said that one of the projects that have been approved by the annual budget and signed is the 1500 middle class housing units and the construction of the project would begin in July 2016.

“While this land has now been given to HDC, in two years, major housing projects would be held there.” Minister Dr. Muizzu said.
