Criminal Court has ordered that the former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor and the former Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Abdulla Ziyath be detained until the end of their trials.
The court ordered the detention at the hearing today after the request was made.
Senior Public Prosecutor Adam Arif said that a number of people are being questioned in the MMPRC corruption case. And so releasing the two may lead to influencing the evidence.
Ziyath’s lawyer said that his client has no objection to being detained until the end of the trial.
