Chine provides free aid to renovate the Islamic Center area

The Chinese Government has provided free aid to renovate the Islamic Center area with marble flooring to accommodate as many people as possible in prayer.

China provided USD 1.14 million in free aid for the project.

The cheque for freeaid was presented by the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Mr. Wang Fukang the Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a special ceremony held at the Housing Ministry.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dr. Muizzu said that it is difficult to conduct a large prayer in the are now.

He said that the project to resolve the issue is under the direct initiative of President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom.

Minister Muizzu said that under this project, an area of 5000 square meter would be renovated with marble flooring. And he said that they would buy the marble and award the project to a contractor in an effort to complete the project by Ramadan.

Housing Minister Dr. Muizzu said that the Islamic pride of the country would be visible from the area when the project is completed.
