Cargo vessels to change route to enter Mal

Cargo vessels will take a different route to enter Malé commercial harbour following the closure of Gaadhoo Kolu between Hulhulé and Malé for the bridge project, Maldives Ports Authority has announced.

An MPL official told Sun Media that cargo vessels and passenger liners will then take the route between Paradise Island Resort and Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa, called Bodu Kalhi; while smaller boats can enter Malé harbour from the southern side.

The government has said that the bridge construction would begin at the end of this month. Gaadhoo Kolu is expected to be closed as soon as construction begins.
