Shahare expresses India

High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Rajeev Shahare has expressed India’s keen interest in further contributing to the development of Maldives.

Shahare made this remark during a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom at the President’s Office on Tuesday.

Speaking at the meeting, President Yameen noted that this year would mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India.

He expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its continuous support to the Maldives in the international arena and in all areas of development, and reassured the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening India-Maldives relations.

President Yameen also called on regional countries to follow Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s example and work on strengthening relations with neighbouring countries.
