Interpol Red Notice has been issued for Mohamed Visham, sought in relation to the explosion on the president’s boat in September 2015.
In addition to Visham, Interpol Red Notice has been issued for Mohamed Aseel Ahmed, Ahmed Ishfah Ali, and Mohamed Allam Latheef.
Mohamed Aseel Ahmed, former deputy managing director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), is accused of corruption in the sale of islands for resort development; Ahmed Ishfah Ali is accused of involvement in the boat blast incident; and Mohamed Allam Latheef is sought in relation to the weapons cache discovered in Baa Hibalhidhoo lagoon.
Umar Naseer, co-chair of the Inquiry Commission set up to lead the boat blast investigation, has urged those suspects who are abroad to return to Maldives and cooperate with the investigation.
Ahmed Ashraf (Shumba Gong), also a suspect in the boat blast incident, was recently arrested in Sri Lanka.
