Over MVR 50,000 in stolen money recovered, 3 men arrested

Police have recovered over MVR 50,000 stolen from a shop in R. Inguraidhoo and arrested three men in connection to the robbery.

Police said on Thursday that the three male suspects arrested were a 20 year-old, a 29 year-old and a 33 year-old.

Stolen money and items recovered by Inguraidhoo police team were MVR 51,500 and USD 140 in cash and some phone cards.

Part of the money was recovered buried under a traditional Maldivian bathroom in the home of the 20 year-old man, and the rest was recovered from two houses the 29 year-old man had hidden the money in.

Police have said that the money and phone cards have been returned to the owner of the shop.
