President Abdulla Yamin has said that the calamities being sought by the people on their own are political calamities and the Maldivian people have to step aside from such things.
Speaking at the “Economic Dialog with the President” held at Dharubaaruge tonight, President Abdulla Yamin indicated “political calamities” as the obstruction to tourism and the development of the country due to actions of a few people.
The President said that the Maldives must allow locals and foreigners to live in the country. And as a result of that, even today is seen in the tourism sector alone.
“…and the efforts to show the Maldives as a dangerous place, the lies and wasted talk on tweets and on social media. But with all this work, the Maldives is now a habitable and acceptable for Maldivians to live and also for foreigners and a place where foreigners get all their returns, investment returns or the Maldivian tourism system is as such. We are talking about capitalize on that and gaining other big projects to develop it further.” President Abdulla Yamin said.
Highlighting that the Maldives does not have a lot of taxable sectors, President Yamin said that every man, every student wants to be a wealthy student. And so the loan scheme of MVR 50 million introduced tonight is also to empower the youth and an opportunity to provide a path for the youth to do business.
The President said that some people believe that the Maldives get a “lot” of aid but it is a false belief. Although some influential countries are talking about the civics in the Maldives, President Yamin said that they have not spent anything to strengthen the Maldivian economy.
“But we have to highlight with joy that through some of the strategic alliances we’re doing a lot. India is country very helpful to us. China is a country very helpful to us. Japan is a country very helpful to us. And recently our friendship with Islamic State of Saudi Arabia was revitalized is a very helpful country to us. So we will move forward with these countries.” President Yamin said.
President Abdulla Yamin said that he and his cabinet has got five years to serve the people and the Government wants to provide a happy future for the youth before the end of that period.
