Prop Pvt Ltd awarded construction of a customs office in Uligam

Work on constructing a Customs Service office in Ha. Uligam – a port for a large number of international yachts – has been awarded to Prop Private Limited.

Agreements between the two organizations were signed by Commissioner General of Customs Mohamed Junaid – on behalf of Customs Services – in a ceremony held at Customs Building on Wednesday.

Prop Private Limited was awarded the MVR 3.2 million project with the stipulation that they complete construction within 180 days.

Speaking to press after signing the agreement, Junaid said that customs officers had been facing difficulties in providing their services at Uligam.

Large number of yachts passing through northern part of Maldives harbor at Uligam each year before passing through. Deputy Commissioner of Customs Ismail Abdulla said that the number of yachts varied from 120 to 200 per year.

“…in some years its 120, 200 – a pretty huge number. A large number (of yachts) had entered by middle of this year,” said Ismail Abdulla.
