An appeal hearing in the case of the former Defence Minister Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim has been scheduled to Sunday.
While the hearing has been set for Sunday, the last hearing in the case was on 22 June.
After being convicted of possession of a firearm, Colonel Nazim was sentenced to 11 years in prison in March.
The sentence came down after the Police testified in court that they found a handgun in his apartment.
Judge Abbaas Shareef on the bench at Nazim’s appeal case has since then retired. Judge Abdul-Ganee Mohamed and Judge Shuaid Hussain Zakariya were on the bench along with Judge Abbaas, But those two judges has now been transferred to the Northern Branch of the High Court.
The Judges Sujaau Usman and Abdulla Didi on the bench on Nazim’s case at the Criminal Court have now been transferred to the High Court.
Colonel Nazim’s lawyers and family has raised concerns about the delays in his appeal hearing.
