Defence Minister has advised the military to stand aside from politics

Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar has advised the military to stand aside from all politics.

Speaking at a special meet with the military at Kalhuthukalaa (K.K) military base tonight, Minister Shareef said requested that the Maldivian military continue to sincerely fulfill all their duties charged by the Constitution.

The Defence Minister said that history shows that the Maldivian military continues to make great sacrifices for the country and the people. And the Minister said that they are an army based of strong code of ethics and service the country sincerely.

The Chief of Defence Force, Major General Ahmed Shiyam also spoke at the ceremony tonight saying that he wishes that all military personnel continue to carry forth their responsibility the nation.

A number of military personnel included Generals and other senior officers along with the Chief of Defence Force, Brigadier General Ahmed Shaahid took part in the ceremony tonight.
