Man dies after being stabbed in the chest in Holhudhoo

The elderly man who was injured after being stabbed in the chest at N. Holhudhoo has died while being treated at Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.

Manager of Health Services at Ungoofaaru Regional, Sheeza Ibrahim said that the old man died sometime earlier in the evening.

Police said that the man was stabbed in the chest on Sunday night around 7:40 p.m.

The Vice President of the Holhudhoo Island Council, Ahmed Hamdhaan Naasir said that the assailant in the stabbing was arrested on the same night. He said that the man was arrested when he came to the Police Station on his own accord.

Hamdhaan said that the man who dies was a former island chief in Holhudhoo and has been the temporary Muezzin at the island mosque.
