Bisam

The government has forwarded the name of Aishath Bisam to the parliament for approval as Prosecutor General (PG).

This was confirmed by President's Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali in a tweet earlier today.

Muaz also said that Bisam was the only applicant for the post.

The former Attorney General presently serves as the President’s Legal Secretary.

The post of Prosecutor General became vacant after the parliament passed a no-confidence motion against Muhthaz Muhsin.

Ahmed Muizzu, who held the post before Muhsin, resigned when the main opposition party submitted a no-confidence motion against him to the parliament.
