Engine fire on boat with 49 on-board

A speedboat going from Malé to Raa Atoll with 49 passengers on-board has come to a stop after its engine caught fire.

Police said the incident took place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, and no one was harmed.

Police arrived at the scene soon after the fire started.

The boat came to a stop about 13 miles off Baa Dharavandhoo.

All passengers, including women and children, are being taken to Baa Eydhafushi by police.
