ACC to investigate CP

Opposition MDP has filed a case at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the former Commissioner of Police, Hussain Waheed’s transfer to the position of State Minister at the Housing Ministry.

MDP said today that it opens up to corruption when Hussain Waheed was assigned to the Housing Ministry as State Minister after being dismissed from the position of the Commissioner of Police after suspicions of financial influence. And so a letter has been sent to ACC requesting an investigation.

Former Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed was dismissed on Friday.

MDP said that their party believes that assigning a person under suspicions of corruption as the State Minister of an important Government institute gives way to further corruption.

In the Presidential Address last Sunday about the ongoing investigation following the assassination attempt on him, President Abdulla Yamin said that he was surprised by the influence the Vice President Adheeb had over the Police. The President said that the Vice President had directly fulfilled many official and unofficial needs of the Police and said that the money given to the Police has to be investigated and it is ongoing.
