Foreign Minister: The Government will give all the rights to Adheeb to defend himself

Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has said that the Government will give all the rights within the law to the Vice President Ahmed Adheeb, who was arrested today in the investigation of the Presidential Launch explosion, to defend himself.

In the information shared with the world leaders following the Vice President Adheeb’s arrest, the Foreign Ministry said that the Vice President was arrested regarding the explosion on board the Presidential Launch.

Noting that the investigation teams from the Maldives and other countries are investigation the explosion, the statement from the Foreign Ministry said that it is a very serious case and so steps have to be taken decisively.

“This matter is extremely unfortunate. However, the administration is determined to ensure that the investigation and any subsequent actions are conducted swiftly and with complete transparency.”

The Foreign Ministry said that the Government will always be awake to fulfill the promise to the people regardless of the state of the country.

Police said that the Vice President Ahmed Adheeb was arrested relation to the explosion on board the Presidential Launch.
