Census report shows men outnumber women

The official census figures have shown that Maldivian men outnumber women by three percent.

The total number of people living in the Maldives is 402,071, of which 338,434 are Maldivians and 63,637 are foreigners.

The number of people living in the Maldives surpassing 400,000 was announced at a ceremony at Dharubaaruge this morning.

The total population of Maldivians is 344,023, of which 166,472 are women and 171,962 are men. The ratio of women to men is 100 to 103.
