Nihan: The meeting was to share what happened to the President

Majority Leader of the Parliament, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has said that the President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom met with the members of the Parliamentary Group from the ruling party PPM, MDA and the MPs of JP to share “what happened” to the President implying “what happened to the President” to be the incident on board the Presidential Launch “Finifenma” on 28 September.

Nihan said that the meeting was held on the request of the MPs due to the accusations being made against different people.

When asked if Vice President Adheeb was mentioned in the meeting, MP Nihan said that the Vice President was not a topic of discussion.

After the two hour meeting at the Presidential Palace, the Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Qasim Ibrahim said that his party is with the Government and the people. And he said that the party is with any actions within the law.

The JP Leader said that the President shared all information he could regarding the explosion onboard the Presidential Launch.

“Since it’s in the investigation stage, I’m not going to say anything more about it.” Qasim Ibrahim said.

Qasim also said that no decisions were made at the meeting today and the President requested not to point blame at anyone regarding the explosion.
