MP for the South-Galolhu constituency, Ahmed Mahloof has accused the Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb of the explosion on board the Presidential launch “Finifenma.”
Speaking at the MDP event at Artificial Beach as part of the serial activities by MDP calling for the release of President Nasheed, MP Mahloof said that if someone was responsible for the explosion on the Presidential launch, it was Vice President Adheeb.
MP Mahloof said that he is happy that the Minister of the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef said that the opposition would not do something big like that to hurt President Yamin.
“I can say with confidence that if it’s something someone did, it was done by the current Vice President, Adheeb. What I’m happy about is that even if it’s a little, the President is aware. Even if it’s a little, his eyes have opened.” MP Mahloof said.
If the investigation is to be done right and to see it was done by Adheeb or someone else, Mahloof called to remove those related to Adheeb from high positions. And he said that if the investigation is to be done right the Commissioner of Police, Hussain Waheed has to be dismissed.
Regarding the incident, Vice President Adheeb said yesterday that the security forces are taking measures to protect state officials following the explosion. And he said that whoever responsible must be brought to justice.
“I have full confidence that those responsible for this will have to face the law and the courts, and will be brought to justice,” he said.
Adeeb also explained that he was not present at the airport to welcome the president because he was unwell.
Responding to the allegations against him regarding the blast, he said that people have tried to blame him for nearly all recent incidents in the country. He added that the rumours that his passport had been held and that he was about the leave the country, are all “fake stories”.
