Media Development Foundation established

A new journalism association by the name of Media Development Foundation has been registered at Ministry of Home Affairs.

The founders are Ahmed Zahir (Hiriga), Midh’hath Adam, and Ali Shamman.

The purpose of the foundation includes media development, human resource development in the media sector, and promotion of journalism rights and individual rights.

The foundation’s work will entail planning and conducting programs to increase awareness among personnel in the media sector, and providing financial assistance to groups involved in such activities.

It will also facilitate training and higher education opportunities in Maldives and abroad for journalists and freelance journalists working in the Maldives, and organise lectures by foreign professors and experts in the field of media in the Maldives.
