Colonel Ahmed Fayaz has been dismissed from the post of Commanding Officer of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Ordnance Service (weapon storage).
Fayaz was earlier dismissed as Commander of the Special Protection Group (SPG), and transferred to the post of Malé Area Commander.
Brigadier General Ahmed Shahid has been appointed as the new Head of MNDF Ordnance Service.
Shahid has also been appointed as a member of the National Inquiry Commission, established to investigate the explosion on the presidential speedboat on 28 September 2015.
On Monday, police arrested Mohamed Jawaz, who also works for the Ordnance Service. A member of the SPG, Jawaz is specialised in defusing bombs. He is also known to have worked with fireworks during celebrations in the past.
Criminal Court has remanded Jawaz and another MNDF officer arrested by police in relation to the explosion, Sergeant Moosa Zameer, in custody for 15 days.
