The main jetty at Addu City Gan has been damaged

The main jetty at Gan, Addu City, has been damaged beyond use. The jetty was used to unload goods during the Second World War.

Deputy Mayor of Addu City, Abdulla Thoyyib told Sun Media tonight that a sheet from about the middle of the jetty was broken sometime last night and the whole jetty is damaged beyond use.

“The jetty is broken beyond use without repairs. It’s damaged heavily. The whole sheet fell as it is. It broke.” Deputy Mayor Thoyyib said.

But he said that he does not know why the damage got damaged.

While goods for the Gan Airport are being off loaded via the jetty, the Deputy Mayor said that that work is beyond the capacity of the jetty.

Deputy Mayor Thoyyib said that there would be no difficulty in offloading goods to Gan although the jetty is broken and other jetties can be used.
