The family of the former Defense Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim, who has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for possession of a firearm, has decided to take his case to the U.N. saying that his trial was unjust.

Nazim’s brother, Adam Azim told Sun Media today that they are trying to take the case to the U.N. Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.

In an interview to India’s the New Indian Express, Colonel Nazim’s lawyer and the former Attorney General, Husnu Suood said that they plan to submit the case to the U.N. Working Group on Arbitrary Detention in about a month’s time.
