Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that four people have been released after treatment for the injuries sustained in the fire that broke out when the engine caught fire on a speed boat traveling from Hulhulé to Club Med Kani (Kanifinolhu) Resort.
CEO of IGMH, Faruhath Shaheer told Sun Media that the people released were the captain of the launch, two tourists and a crew member.
The captain of the launch is a Maldivian. The crew member released is an Indian national. And the two tourists released are Chinese nationals.
Faruhath said that the three tourists admitted at the ADK Hospital was moved to IGMH around 3:30 p.m. yesterday and those three Chinese tourists are recovering.
He said that with two Chinese children, IGMH is now treated 19 people from that incident.
The CEO of IGMH said that the Bangladeshi crew member who got his face burned is being treated at the ICU after his three-hour surgery.
The launch travelling with a total of 24 people yesterday caught fire around 1:30 p.m.
A man who was on board the launch at the time said that their engine caught fire and is unsure as to why.
