Seaplane sinks at Kanifushi Resort harbour

A seaplane belonging to Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) docked in the harbour of Lhaviyani Kanifushi Resort has sunk due to bad weather early Monday morning.

There was no one on board the aircraft at the time of the incident.

There was one more TMA aircraft in the same harbour, but it was not damaged.

The aircraft which sank arrived in Kanifushi yesterday with tourists, and decided to stay at the resort overnight due to rough seas.

Police said that the incident had not been reported. Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) was unavailable for a comment at the time of publication.
