Israeli tourists attack a Maldivian

Some tourists attacked a Maldivian surf guide working at the popular Thunburudhoo surf point on Friday.

Tourist magazine “Maldivesfinest” reported that the incident took place Friday evening, and that the incident was instigated by three Israeli tourists.

The surf guide was reportedly beaten up after he advised the tourists on surfing etiquette and respecting other fellow surfers. The newspaper also reported that a complaint had been filed with K.Himmafushi police station.

A police media official who spoke to Sun Online on Saturday confirmed that a complaint had been filed with them regarding the assault, and that the incident was currently under investigation.

Sun Online has been informed that police took statements from the three tourists, but that they were not under arrest at this point.
