Azra appointed as the State Minister of the Ministry of Law and Gender

Former President of the Human Rights Commission, Mariyam Azra Ahmed has been appointed as the State Minister of the Gender Ministry.

Sources say that Azra was appointed as the State Minister of the Gender Ministry by the President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom on 17 August.

Aside from Azra, the State Ministers at the Gender Ministry are Dr. Halaa Hameed, Aminath Aathifa and Fathimath Sheereen.

Azra was appointed to the Human Rights Commission in 2010. She also reapplied for the position after her term expired. But the Parliament did not approve her.
