Imran has been moved to Hinmafushi Prison

President of Adhaalath Party, Sheik Imran Abdulla, who is in custody for the duration of his trial, has been moved to the Hinmafushi Prison.

Information Officer of the Police, Isamil Ali told Sun Media that Shiekh Imran was moved to the prison today.

He said that the order from the Criminal Court says to keep him at a location assigned by the Home Ministry. And so Imran was moved to the prison following the decision from the Home Ministry.

“The court order says we should keep Imran detained at a location decided by the Home Ministry. So far Imran has been in Police custody because the Home Ministry decided so. Today the Home Ministry has decided that Imran would be detained at the Hinmafushi Prison.” Ismail said.

Sheikh Imran who has been charged with terrorism, has requested the court to hasten his trial through his defense team. But the case has not been scheduled so far.

State has accused Sheikh Imran of firing up the protesters participating in the “Against Oppression” protest held on May, 2015; which led to protesters to break free of the barricades set by police and injure police and damage private property.

Imran was charged in reference to 2 (a), under 6 (b) of Anti-Terrorism Act.
