Total of 280 persons fail to pay GST for first quarter of 2012

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has published yesterday the names of 280 persons who have not paid GST from January to March 2012.

The list consists of general businesses, construction companies, and companies in the tourism industry. Fifty companies on the list are from the tourism industry, and 230 are from other industries.

MIRA also indicated that the persons on the list could not be contacted on the number provided to MIRA when they were registered.

GST non-compliers outside of Male’ will be announced on 30 May.

MIRA had published the names of GST non-compliers on a previous occasion as well, following which several persons made the GST payment.
