The hearing scheduled for today, related to the murder of a Bangladeshi citizen in Laamu Gan in June 2015, has been cancelled for a third time.
At the last hearing, the court allowed the defendant, Ali Hamza, to appoint a lawyer paid for by the State.
Criminal Court spokesperson Ahmed Mohamed Manik said that the hearing scheduled for 10:00 a.m. today was cancelled because the defendant still does not have a lawyer.
Presenting the charge at the first hearing, the State Prosecutor said that Hamza attacked the Bangladeshi citizen by hitting him on the face with a 3-foot wooden rod while he was sleeping in Randhaanuge in Laamu Gan at around 10:00 p.m. on 9 June 2015.
Hamza has been charged with murder using a weapon.
