CHRI: Women

The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) has said in a recent study that the representation of women in the police force is higher in the Maldives than in India.

The study, based on data from Maldives, India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan for 2014 and 2015, found that the representation of women in the police force was poor in all four countries.

Maldives led with 7.4 percent, followed by India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan; at 6 percent, 4.6 percent, and 0.9 percent respectively.

The detailed report for the study, Rough Roads to Equality: Women Police in South Asia, will be released tomorrow.
