MET Office: Strong winds and showers expected in the Northern and Southern atolls

National Meteorological Service has said that heavy rains and strong winds are expected in the next 24 hours in the Northern and Southern atolls of the Maldives.

An Official from the MET Office told Sun Media tonight that showers are expected across the country in the next 24 hours. Heavy rains and strong winds are expected past midnight tonight especially in the Northern and Central atolls.

The relevant institutes have advised the citizens to heed caution due to bad weather.

And so they advise to be cautious and be mindful of communication devices when travels with large number of people and the ferry services between the islands.

Police and the Coast Guard are advising to seek the latest weather reports from the MET Office before planning travels.
