The success of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Lance Corporal Hassan Saaid who won gold medal in Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) is something the entire nation is proud of, and is a matter of pride to military as well; said Maldivian Defense Minister Moosa Ali Jaleel on Tuesday.
Saaid, dubbed the “Man of Speed” won the gold medal in 100 meter race and silver medal in 200 meter race in IOIG 2015 held in Reunion.
Meeting with Saaid at “Bandaara Koshi,” Minister Moosa Ali Jaleel said that Saaid had proven that he had made full use of the opportunity provided by government, Maldives Athletics Association, and Olympic Committee.
He said that Chief of Defense Force and Maldivian President, Abdulla Yameen had provided his assurances that government provide whatever assistance needed by Saaid in his athletic career.
He then advised Saaid to give attention to his military duties and do whatever was needed to build his career, and to work towards success in both his military as well as athletic careers.
Minister Moosa Ali Jaleel said that MNDF gladly accepted Saaid’s success.
Meanwhile, Saaid said that he owed his success at IOIG to the opportunity and assistance provided by MNDF.
He said that his net target was to qualify for Olympics and win a medal.
