Parliament approves three nominations to HRCM

The parliament has approved the three people nominated by President Abdulla Yameen to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

The three nominees are former MP Shifag Mufeed, Aishath Afreen Mohamed, and Aminath Eenas.

Eenas received 64 votes in favour, Afreen 59, and Shifag 50.

HRCM consists of five members. Tenures as HRCM members will expire on 17 August, for HRCM President Mariyam Azra, Ahmed Tholal, and Jeehan Mohamed.
