The Trans Maldivian (TMA) seaplane that recently crashed into the sea about two miles off Kuredu Resort in Lhaviyani Atoll, has been removed from the water.
An official of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) told Sun Online that the aircraft has been pulled out of the water by MNDF Coast Guard, as advised by Civil Action Authority, and it is now being transported on a landing craft to another location.
He said that out of the parts pulled out of the water, one of the wings was broken.
The Civil Aviation Authority said that all parts of the aircraft will be kept under their supervision until the process of collecting evidence for the investigation is completed.
The reason behind the crash is still unknown, but investigations are ongoing by the Civil Aviation Authority, MNDF, and police.
The seaplane crashed at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, 2 July 2015. It was carrying 11 passengers and three crew members. Everyone was rescued unharmed.
All parts of the aircraft except for the two floats sank soon after the accident.
