The remand of the ten men arrested in child prostitution using to underage girls, has been extended by 15 days.
The ten people arrested in Fuvahmulah for blackmailing two underage girls into prostitution for money were taken to the island court at 1 p.m. today to extend their remand.
Police arrested a 19-year-old, two 21-year-old, three 22-year-old, a 32-year-old, a 41-year-old, a 50-year-old and a 55-year-old man in Fuvahmulah last night.
Two of the most famous businessmen in Fuvahmulah were among the ten people arrested along with known members of street gangs.
While they were arrested last night, Sources say that it has been going on for over a month. It is suspected that the prostitution ring is being run by the businessmen. These acts take place at a guesthouse on “Miskiy Magu” (Mosque Road); different people going on different nights.
Sources say that the two girls who were involved in the prostitution were 14 and 16 years of age from Hoadhandu and Dhiguvaandu areas. It is said that the two girls were paid to take part in illicit behavior with several people on multiple occasion.
