1.3 kilos of drugs seized, local arrested

A Maldivian national who attempted to import 1.3 kilos of drugs hidden on his body has been arrested.

Senior Superintendent of Customs, Ahmed Niyaz told Sun Media today that they seized 1.3 kilograms of drugs from a 30-year-old local who returned to the country on Bangkok airways yesterday morning.

“He was searched after his behavior was noticed by the customs officers at the airport and found it hidden on his body.” Superintendent Niyaz said.

Customs said today that he had 1.3 kilograms of heroin in 123 packets.

The man and the drugs has been handed over to the Police.
