A dangerous traffic collision in Mal

A dangerous traffic collision took place in Malé City last night and the thwo people injured are being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Three motorcycles collided near Maaziya Stadium last night on Boduthakurufaanu Magu around 12:23 a.m.

Police Media Official said that the 19-year-old man and the 22-year-old man are being treated at IGMH. He gave no further details.

Sources say that out of the three motorcycles, the driver on one of the motorcycles fled the scene.

“One motorcycle came from the direction of West Park. That was a motorcycle of the Jupiter brand. Two people were on it. What happened to that one was it skidded off and hit the speed bumper after the collision. The other two motorcycles came from the direction of IGMH. One of those motorcycles had one person on it. The other motorcycle had a man and a woman on it. Those were an AirBlade and a Honda Wave 110. The people on those motorcycles were not injured. The man on the AirBlade fled without stopping after the collision.” A witness said.

He said that one of the people injured in the collision sustain major injuries to his face around his mouth. And the other had his nose broken with injuries around his mouth as well.

The two people who were injured were taken to IGMH in a pickup truck. And the Police arrived on the scene later.

When the journalists from Sun Media arrived at the IGMH, the families of the victims were present as well. One of the family members said that the doctors have said that his brother is still bleeding from his facial injuries and may have to be taken to the ICU.

So far there has been no word from the hospital.
