Search for expats living and selling illegally

Economic Ministry and Immigration has joined forces and taken to the streets to find expatriates living illegally and running business without permits.

Deputy Minister of the Economic Ministry, Adam Thaufeeq told Sun Media today that while expats have opened small stands selling different items for Ramadan, they have checked them since they don’t have a business permits.

“What we did yesterday is we identified unregistered and undocumented expats.” Deputy Minister Thaufeeq said.

Information Officer of Immigration, Hassan Haleem told Sun Media today that in their joint operation with the Economic Ministry, Immigration took part to see if there were illegal expats. And so they took one person into their custody and a lot were advised yesterday.

Teams from the two joint institutes visited areas where expats were doing businesses yesterday. They said that yesterday was a start and the two institutes would continue working together.
