Commission Member: Broadcasting Commission is running their own agenda

A member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission, Moomina Adam has said that she does not believe it is an independent institute and believes that the President of the Commission, Mohamed Shaheeb and the Deputy President, Abdulla Sujaau are running their own agenda.

Moomina told Sun Media tonight that the President of the Commission issues statements without consulting with it’s members.

“Decisions are being taken on his own without discussing with the members of the commission. Things to be said for the rights of broadcasters are being said from his (Shaheeb’s) own thoughts. So it’s no longer a commission, it’s his own agenda.” Moomina said.

Moomina also raised the question of integrity on Twitter as well.

Moomina said that the things being seen inside the commission questions the integrity of the President and the Deputy President of the Commission.

She said that members discuss the issues facing broadcasters but a solution is never found.

“The President of the Commission does not even know how to run the meetings of the Commission. He runs it however he wants.” She said.

Regarding Moomina’s statement, when the President of the Commission was called for a response, he said that he does not want to comment on it.
