Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has said that the work to drill boreholes, as part of the Malé-Hulhulé Bridge Project, is expected to be completed mid-July.
Deputy Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Abdulla Mutthalib told Sun Online that the work was initially scheduled to be completed by 30 June, but is delayed due to rough seas.
The work began on 20 May.
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu said earlier that a total of 29 boreholes will be drilled for the project.
At a ceremony to kick off the borehole work on 20 May, Dr Muizzu responded to criticism by opposition parties aimed at the bridge project, and said that the government knows what it is doing and even opposition parties will be happy once the project is completed.
