A foreign worker has died of dengue fever in Gaafu Alifu Kooddoo.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the Minister of Health this morning, Director of Health Protection Agency (HPA) Asma Ibrahim said that a cleaning project was under way in Kooddoo following the death of a foreign worker of dengue fever in the island.
Asma said that the presence of mosquito habitats was a serious problem in Kooddoo.
She also stressed the importance of resting after being infected with dengue fever.
Similarly, Dr Ahmed Faisal highlighted the lack of awareness among foreign workers regarding dengue fever.
“Oftentimes they don’t consult a doctor. They go to some pharmacy and take some strong medicine, and return to work. I want to stress the importance of getting enough rest if you get dengue fever,” Dr Faisal said.
